Dance Instructor Shana Goldberger began her dance training at the age of 5 under the direction of Gail Sinclair. Trained in all styles of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern and contemporary, Shana has become a versatile artist. A student of Beth Solimine herself, Shana aspired to take the knowledge of her teachers to become a professional dancer. Shana has won numerous dance titles, scholarships, and awards in National Dance Competitions which include the Legacy Talent Competition Full Scholarship Award to train with noted dance choreographers and teachers on the Legacy Talent Competition National Tour. At the age of 13, She trained at the Seiskaya Ballet under the direction of Valia Seiskaya where her love for ballet soared. Shana’s dedication and expressed love for the arts landed her a teaching position teaching young dancers how to reach their dreams in the dance world. At Seiskaya Ballet, She performed several featured roles in the Nutcracker and in Spring performances. In the Nutcracker, she performed roles that included Snow Queen, Bo Peep, Flowers, and Snow Corps. In Spring Performances, Shana performed the Paquita Pas de Trios with Professional Ballet Dancer David Hovhannisyan (featured on So You Think You Can Dance). Among gaining training from teachers and mentors, the use of Summer Intensives in a dancers life is crucial to become the best artist one can be. Believing in this principle, Shana attended many summer intensives including New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA). Out of all of New York State, Shana was one out of sixty dancers chosen to participate in the New York City Ballet’s hosted summer intensive. Training under Damian Woetzal, Ashley Bouder, Daniel Ulbricht, Jenifer Ringer, Olga Kostritsky, and others, Shana’s training was increased. Shana was a member of the Contemporary Company titled Just Left of Center. Under the direction of Jamie Chandler Torns, Shana increased her love and knowledge of Contemporary Dance training. After attending the Seiskaya Ballet for three years, Shana auditioned for the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. Awarded on scholarship, Shana attended the Joffrey Summer Intensive for eight weeks which lead into an invitation to join the Joffrey Ballet School Trainee Program on scholarship for one year. Shana graduated High School a year early to accept this position. During her Traineeship, she performed the roles of Chinese, Snow Corps, and Flower Corps in the Joffrey Ballet School Nutcracker. Currently, Shana is a dance major and psychology minor at Adelphi University. Combining her love of the arts and the drive to gain scholastic education, Shana loves her place at Adelphi University. In the Spring of 2011, Shana had the opportunity to work with world- renowned dancer, choreographer, and director Christopher Fleming in the Production of The Who’s Tommy: A Rock Ballet. Shana landed the lead role as Mrs. Walker where she learned to combine acting, dancing, and passion into a fantastic rock Ballet. Also in the Spring of 2011, Shana performed works choreographed by students at Adelphi University, and the Paquita Pas de Trois staged by Frank Augustyn (chair of Dance Depatment). As an exemplary dance student at Adelphi, Shana was invited by Frank Augustyn to attend a special banquet to represent the Dance Department. In the Summer of 2011, Shana will be working with Christopher Fleming with new works for the Huntington Center for Performing Arts. Shana loves teaching at Create Dance Center and hopes to bring her love and training of dance to all dancers who have the passion for the arts.
