Substitute Instructor/Choreographer It was once said that, “Your love for yourself is only shown when you are dancing freely.” In an attempt to live up to this saying, Dana Destefano has worked intensively to express herself through movement. Dana has participated in the Martha Graham Young Artists Program, the American Academy of Ballet summer intensive program, and the American Dance Theatre Workshop to name a few. During high school, Dana studied at the cultural arts center as a dance major and received a scholarship towards college upon the completion of her senior year. While auditioning for college, Dana received an invitation into the Alvin Ailey summer intensive program. She was also a member of the Cultural Arts Center Dance Company, where she performed and participated in community service throughout Long Island. One of her fondest memories with this company included teaching students at the Rosemary Kennedy School for disabled children. On a competitive level, Dana has won numerous high scores at National Competitions, including Starpower and Showbiz. She also received titles such as the Teen Dancer of the Year and was a finalist at the Starbound nationals. After high school, Dana continued her passion for dance professionally. She was inducted into the first NY Titans lacrosse dance team, where she auditioned in front of celebrity judges such as American Idol's Constantine Morales. On this team, Dana was given the opportunity to perform at Madison Square Garden weekly! While teaching at Create Dance Center, Dana hopes to help her students realize the full potential the art of dance has to offer.
